How do I login to Blackboard?

You can login to Blackboard using links from the My Courses tab in OwlNet or by using http://harfordcc.blackboard.com and your OwlNet username/password combination.

How do I submit an assignment?

Browser Plugins

Some Blackboard courses use browser plug-ins. To view portions of these sites, you may need one or more of the plug-ins below. Browsers will generally automatically download any plug-in required by a particular page. For the latest plug-in information from Blackboard, visit their site.

Java - Sun Microsystems

Run applications and applets that use Java technology.

Sun Java - Get It NowJava is required for some Blackboard components. Some Blackboard courses use Java technology in course content.

To install this software:

  1. Click Java - Get It Now. The Download Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment page appears.
  2. Review and accept the License Agreement.
  3. Select the appropriate download and follow the online instructions.

Note: Alternate links for Macintosh operating systems:

  • For Mac OS X, download and install the latest version of Java for Mac OS X.
  • For Mac OS 9 and earlier, download and install the MRJ 2.2.5.

PowerPoint Viewer

View PowerPoint presentations.

Microsoft OfficeSome Blackboard courses use PowerPoint presentation software. If you don't have Microsoft Office, download the PowerPoint viewer.

 

Word Viewer

View Word documents.

Microsoft OfficeSome Blackboard courses use Word document software. If you don't have Microsoft Office, download the Word viewer.

 

Windows Media Player

Play video and audio.

Get Windows Media PlayerSome Blackboard courses use video or audio that can be played with Windows Media Player.

 

RealPlayer

Play video and audio.

QuickTime

View QuickTime video.

Course Availability

When will my course be available?

Online courses and any other course that uses Blackboard will be officially open to students on the first day of the semester. Some courses may open early; if you have questions about a specific course, your best source for information is the course instructor.
