Interior Design

The Interior Design program offers an Associate of Applied Sciences degree as well as a certificate in Interior Decorating.

The program prepares students for professional entry-level positions in the field of interior design or transfer to a four-year institution. Creative graphics and oral presentations are emphasized. Internships and cooperative education are available to students as an additional means of receiving hands-on learning experience in interior design.

The Harford Community College ASID Interior Design organization has been featured in various publications for students’ works in the annual Decorators’ Show Houses. Students have won awards and scholarships at industry-sponsored design competitions. The organization also focuses on community service projects. Several times a year the organization offers field trips and invites guest speakers from the interior design profession to speak with students.

Life after the Interior Design Program

Graduates excel at four-year institutions and in the interior design profession because of their excellent training in the basics of design. Many HCC graduates are employed in architectural and interior design firms throughout the Baltimore-Washington area. Several graduates have launched their own successful interior design firms.
