Medical Assisting

Offering both a certificate and a degree track,. the Medical Assisting program at HCC is designed to prepare students for employment immediately upon completing their course of studies. A medical assistant is a multi-skilled allied health professional who performs clinical and administrative procedures.


As a graduate of the Medical Assisting Associate of Arts degree, you are eligible to sit for the CMA (AAMA) national certification or the RMA (ABHES) national certifying exam.

In accordance with the 2015 Standards and Guidelines for the Accreditation of Educational Programs in Medical Assisting, Standard V.A.4 Harford Community College would like to share with the public the following assessment outcomes:

Employment and Transfer Information

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects growth of employment for medical assistants to be 31 percent from 2010-2020.

The current average salary for a medical assistant is $28,860.00.

Towson University has accepted an articulation agreement with HCC to accept all 64 credits from this degree program.
