Computer Information Systems

Computer Information Systems (CIS) is the study of the use of computers in business applications.

The CIS curriculum presents computer literacy, program design, programming languages and electives in software, network and Internet applications.

CIS students may pursue careers such as:

  • Computer programmer
  • Computer simulation/gaming engineer
  • Software specialist
  • Computer user support specialist
  • Network and Internet specialist

Employment/Career Potential

According to the 2016-2017 Occupational Outlook Handbook, employment in the field of computer and related professions is projected to increase 15% through 2024.
