The Accounting Certificate program is designed to provide students with specific skills needed for employment in the field of accounting and bookkeeping, including positions such as bookkeeper, accounts receivable clerk or accounts payable clerk. Upon completion of the certificate, students will be prepared to sit for the AIPB Bookkeepers Certification exam.
According to the 2012-2013 Occupational Outlook Handbook, employment of bookkeepers is expected to grow 14% through 2020. This is one of the largest growth occupations in the economy with about 259,000 new jobs expected over the projections decade.
Accounting classes are taught in several Bel Air Hall classrooms. Additionally, the accounting program has a separate accounting lab in Bel Air Hall (room 209) monitored by an accounting lab assistant who provides tutoring and related support to accounting students.
