Honors Programs & Societies
Why enroll in the Honors Program?
Classes are limited to 15 students to allow for more concentrated and personalized instruction and to promote interaction between outstanding teachers and students.
- Participation in special academic and social events, such as dinner with the College president
- Access to Honors scholarships at HCC
- The opportunity to share perspectives within a learning community and participate in research and special projects
- Special recognition at Commencement
- Designated Honors courses on your transcript, showing transfer institutions and prospective employers your record of high achievement
- Opportunity to transfer to the Honors College at Towson University and receive a $1,000 annual scholarship.
- Acceptance into the program is based on eligibility at the time of application submission.
Admission Criteria
Admission Criteria for New Students:
- Have completed an HCC Application for Enrollment
- Eligible to enroll in college-level English and reading courses
- Earn a qualifying score on math assessment
- Achieved a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.2 in high school
Admission Criteria for Current or New Transfer Students:
- Eligible to enroll in college-level English and reading courses
- Earn a qualifying score on math assessment
- Possess a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.2 and a minimum of nine credits of college-level courses
Admission into the Program is based on eligibility at the time of application submission. In certain circumstances, exceptions to the criteria may be permitted with the consent of the instructor or the division dean.
