From the Pyramids in Egypt to the homes and buildings in your neighborhood, masonry is one of the strongest and most sought-after building techniques. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the field of masonry is expected to grow 11% in the next decade, much faster than the average rate of 5%. The average wage for brick masons in Maryland is $24.11 per hour, or $50,150 annually.

Harford Community College will be offering a Brick Masonry Training Introduction course in partnership with the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 1 that will focus on such topics as tools and equipment, techniques and materials, and, of course, how to build a structure. Classes begin September 22, 2020.

By enrolling in this course, students will also be eligible to apply to the Bricklayers Apprenticeship program through Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 1.
