Sunday Afternoon Concert Presents Vocal Arts Recital Featuring Tenor Sammy Huh February 25

On Sunday, February 25 at 3 PM, tenor Sammy Huh will perform as part of Harford Community College’s Sunday Afternoon Concert Series in Recital Hall #1 located in Joppa Hall on campus. The vocal arts recital will feature selections from Verdi, Beethoven, Quilter, Tosti, and Stravinsky. General seating tickets are $10 for adults, $1 for youth aged 17 and younger, and are free to HCC students with a valid HCC ID. Tickets can be purchased or 443-412-2211.

Korean-American tenor Sammy Huh is an accomplished performer and teacher based in the Mid-Atlantic Region. He received a Bachelor of Music from The Juilliard School and a Master of Music with the University of Maryland Opera Studio. A passionate educator, he serves on the voice faculty at University of Maryland Baltimore County and maintains a private studio.

Mr. Huh has made operatic and concert appearances with companies nationwide, including Chautauqua Opera Company, Aspen Opera Theatre Center, Opera Camerata of Washington, The In-Series Opera, The Virginia Consort, Maryland Opera Studio, Washington Opera Society, Juilliard Opera, Central Maryland Chorale and President's Residence at University of Maryland. He has presented recitals at venues such as the Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, Washington College, Arts Club of Washington, Embassy of South Korea, The Mansion at Strathmore and the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery. He has received awards from the Enrico Caruso Memorial Scholarship, National Society of Arts and Letters, Young Singers Foundation and the Lucrezia Bori Grant.

The accompanist, pianist Edward Kim, is a graduate of Dartmouth College (BA Anthropology, magna cum laude) and the University of Maryland (MM Collaborative Piano with Rita Sloan), and is a former recipient of the Fulbright Grant (Doha, Qatar, 2009). He earned a Graduate Diploma in Collaborative Piano at The Juilliard School in 2015 under the tutelage of Jonathan Feldman and Margo Garrett. Mr. Kim served as a pianist-coach and conductor at the Salzburg State Theater in Austria from 2015 to 2017, initially as the inaugural pianist-coach in the opera studio and later as a member of the general music staff. Previous summer festival appearances include work as a Coaching Fellow at the Wolf Trap Opera Company, the Music Academy of the West, the Aspen Music Festival and School, and the European-American Musical Alliance in Paris, France.
