Harford Community College President Dr. Dianna G. Phillips, Ph.D. was a celebrity story time reader at the annual Fairy Tale Festival hosted by the Bel Air Library on January 12. Dr. Phillips read Interstellar Cinderella by Deborah Underwood to the children attending the event. The festival is held in honor of the creator of the fairy tale, Charles Perrault, on his 390th birthday.

The College summed the event up nicely in a recent Facebook post, “Once upon a time, there was an HCC president who dreamed of #FutureFightingOwls at her institution who worked hard, achieved their goals, and made a difference in the world – much like the students here now. Thank you HCPL for having Dr. Phillips as a celebrity reader as part of your Fairy Tale Festival today!”

Other celebrities who were scheduled to read to children included Harford County Executive Barry Glassman; Harford County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Angela Rose; Harford County Councilman Chad Shrodes; Commanding General, CECOM, and APG Senior Mission Commander Major General Randy S. Taylor; Harford County Council President Richard Slutzky; Harford County Councilman Jim “Cap’n Jim” McMahon; Bel Air Mayor Susan Burdette; Bel Air Town Administrator Jesse Bane; University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health President/CEO Lyle E. Sheldon, and Harford County Councilman Mike Perrone.

In addition to celebrity readers, various fairy-tale themed activities for children and adults also took place throughout the day.
