Harford Dance Theatre is premiering a brand new production, on Saturday, August 2, at 7:30 PM at Harford Community College’s Chesapeake Theater. A dance-theatre masterwork, Oona features ballet, contemporary, jazz, and modern dance, with a magnificent blend of original choreography.

Oona is a story about love and loss, set against the majesty of the Emerald Isle. A young American boy comes to Ireland, and his life is changed forever when he meets a beautiful young girl. Their love grows and promises a life of happiness and joy, until Oona arrives.

Directed by HDT alumnus, Lauren Carnesi, Oona’s touching story offers audiences who enjoy story-based productions such as The Nutcracker something entirely new and exciting, with more styles of dance than just ballet. Carnesi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Dance from Shenandoah Conservatory, and her choreography has been performed in England, Greece, and Spain, among other locations. Oona features several guest artists, including Elysia Greene, a fellow graduate from Shenandoah Conservatory. Greene has trained and performed in New York and Chicago and currently dances with the modern repertory company, Motion X Dance DC. She is “delighted to be reunited with Lauren as they work together on Oona.”
