With more than 18 years’ experience and an MVA-approved program, Harford Community College is the premier choice in Harford County for Driver Education. Not only do students learn the basic rules of the road, they also learn the defensive-driving skills necessary to prepare for a complex driving environment through instruction that incorporates today’s driver issues including cell phone use, texting, and road rage. The HCC Driver Education Program includes 30 hours of classroom instruction (10 three-hour sessions) and six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction (by appointment) on MVA-approved routes.

Classes are offered during the evening or on weekends and begin on various dates throughout the summer. Students must provide a birth certificate or other proof of age when registering. Sessions are held on the HCC campus, beginning with an orientation for parents and students on the first day of class. Students must have a learner’s permit (available at age 15 years, 9 months) to complete behind-the-wheel instruction.
