The Design and Technical Theatre A.A.S. degree
offers
students the opportunity to learn, train, and
gain the
specialized technical and artistic skills
required to
execute contemporary theatrical
productions.
The Performing Arts Associate of Arts degree is designed
to provide a broad liberal education as well as
specialized
professional training which emphasizes
performance skills.
The Theatre program is committed to connecting
students with
professional opportunities during and
after their time at HCC.
Students
pursue a variety
of film, television, radio, live theatre, and
a variety of
entertainment opportunities in acting, directing,
management, design, technical production, and
front-of-house.
Sample Course Offerings:
In Harford Community College’s Theatre program,
students enjoy coursework that is
more extensive
than many four-year programs in theatre, including:
- Modern/World Drama -
in which students explore the great wealth of
world.
dramatic arts - Advanced Acting, Movement, and Voice -
where students develop and master
their crafts as performers. - Advanced Stagecraft, Costume, and
Scenic Design -
where students develop and
master their crafts as designers and technicians. - Directing and Theatre Workshop - courses in which students participate in studio projects and full productions with such companies as Harford Community College Actor’s Guild and the Phoenix Festival Theatre.
Harford Community College faculty work with each student to create an artistic point of view within a professional work ethic appropriate for the theatre.
