Historical Heroes and Villains: Sam Houston, Father of Texas  
Sam Houston was president of a country - The Republic of Texas, governor of two states, a congressman and senator, and a military hero who received four wounds in the service of his country. Friend to Andrew Jackson, he was a larger than life western hero with many virtues - loyalty among them - and a basketful of vices, including a penchant for strong whisky and lots of it. He was a man of character who shaped much of the early southwest.

Landscapes in Watercolor  
This class welcomes the beginner and more experienced student wanting to learn how to execute landscapes in luminous, transparent watercolor. Emphasis is on good composition, color properties, and watercolor techniques, including wet into wet, lost edges and glazing. Demonstrations and individual guidance will be provided by the instructor. Materials will be discussed at the first class, at which time a supply list will be distributed. Learn to execute landscapes in oils or acrylics by exploring various techniques including alla prima (wet into wet), underpainting, and layering. Emphasis is on good composition, color properties, and confident brushwork. Demonstrations and individual instruction will be provided by the instructor. Long-Term Care Insurance  
Learn about the rising costs of a long-term care event for care at home, adult day care, assisted living, and nursing home. With people living so much longer today, there exists a much higher risk of needing care. Learn the facts about what the government will pay (Medicare, Medicaid, Veteran's benefits), the specific benefits to look for in a long-term care insurance policy, life insurance, and annuity with a long-term care rider. Recent regulatory law changes and tax incentives that may be available will also be discussed.

Open Studio with Rita Cooper  
Do you need designated painting time to work on your projects? Take advantage of this open studio session. This is not for the first time student. Instruction will be limited and individualized. Students should bring their supplies and project each week and artist Rita Cooper will be available to help with those trouble spots and to offer encouragement and suggestions as you work.
