| Advanced Digital Photography |
If you have taken Digital Photo I and II (or instructor permission), this advanced class is for you! You must know how to use the settings on your digital camera, including white balance, aperture and shutter priority, program and manual modes, exposure and flash compensation, exposure bracketing, etc. The class will focus on specific projects in various locations. Course includes models, field trip (weather permitting), and support materials. Senior adult and disabled retiree tuition waivers apply.

What makes a good black and white photo? Learn to see in color but think in B&W! Explore techniques for shooting photos, and how to edit photos for the best darkroom look. | Digital Photography I |
Learn about all the buttons and controls on your camera, and how to take good shots in modes other than AUTO. This introductory class is for those new to digital photography, digital cameras, or photography in general. If you are using a point-and-shoot camera, you'll learn how to trick it to do cool things. Concentrate on learning the basics of taking portraits, landscapes, night portraits, MACROS, and sports/action shots. Learn basic composition. Bring your camera, a flash drive or memory card reader, the cable to attach camera to computer, and the user manual if you have these. Course fee includes support materials. Now that you have learned how to operate your digital camera with an earlier class (prerequisite: Digital Photography I), learn how to take great photos using more advanced manual exposure techniques. Learn about different lighting techniques (flash, reflective, natural), using props, taking better close-ups, and group portraits. Get the most out of your zoom function/lens and learn some advanced photo editing techniques. This class is perfect for those with a Digital SLR (dSLR) or more advanced point-and-shoot digital cameras with Aperture Priority (Av) and or Shutter Priority (Tv). Check your manual for these features. Bring a flash drive or memory card reader, the cable to attach camera to computer, lenses, tripod, filters, etc. Model shoots and possible off campus photo shoot (weather permitting). Do you have an interest in photography? Want to learn how to take that "perfect" picture? Learn things like how to photograph family members, pets, vacations and special events. Take this opportunity to get to know your camera features better and learn how to care for your camera. Learn composition and picture taking techniques and develop ideas of how to get the best picture possible! There will be three classroom sessions for instruction and student interaction, a photographic field trip, and a final session to discuss and display student images for the class.
