Appliance Repair: Basic  
Students are generally taught to install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot major appliances such as washers, dryers, refrigerators with ice makers, ranges,dishwashers, and garbage disposals. You'll get hands-on training in using electrical appliance tools and testers. Completers of this course are prepared for entry-level positions in the appliance repair industry. Basic Carpentry  
Designed to introduce the student to the basic carpentry skills needed to build, repair, and maintain structural and finishing components of buildings. Emphasis will be placed on proper tools and terminology for particular jobs. Learn how to fit joints, erect inside walls, install drywall on ceilings and walls. Basic Plumbing  
This course enables students to read and follow schematics/diagrams/rough-in sheets to install or repair plumbing fixtures, to troubleshoot, and make repairs. It also covers identifying pipe and fittings, proper methods for joining all types of pipe and fittings, hanging and securing pipe, and using materials and tools. Emphasis is on all plumbing materials, tools, suppliers, equipment, and methods. Topics include removing, replacing, and repairing plumbing fixtures; new installations; and troubleshooting. Upon completion, students will be able to make plumbing repairs, install plumbing fixtures, and be able to join various pipe and fittings. Senior adult and disabled retiree tuition waivers apply. This course is designed to improve the competency level of the participant in the basic and fundamental areas of refrigeration - definitions and terms, the refrigeration cycle of operation, and component recognition. Learn the theory of heat transfer as applied to refrigeration processes including compression, types of refrigerants, regulations and procedures for refrigerant recovery, recycling, reclaiming, and more. Comfort Cooling  
The objective of this training is to introduce the basics of the refrigeration system as it applies to comfort cooling. This course will cover such topics as: the refrigeration cycle and its components, refrigerant types and issues, and basic building refrigeration systems. What is refrigeration? Learn the technical skills to operate a mechanical refrigeration system from function to installation and more. Learn to install and service all types of cooling equipment. Construction Cost Estimating I  
An intensive study of the estimating process, this course includes types of estimates and estimating procedures; types of construction drawings; reading and interpreting scale drawings; specifications that include state and local building code; calculating and processing bids, quotes, and contracts; and a review of math associated with estimating. Additional topics include costs associated with mechanical, structural, interior and exterior finishing; labor, cost codes, and other related costs; and special conditions associated with cost estimating. Electrical for HVAC Technicians  
Safety and the basic fundamentals of electricity are needed to understand the function and operation of HVAC systems. In this hands-on, performance-based training program, the participant will learn the electric and electronic controls used in connection with mechanical systems and gain a working knowledge of the basic concepts of electricity.The participant will be able to systematically implement procedures to analyze HVAC electrical system operation. Heating Systems  
This course will focus on gas-fired and oil-fired warm air furnaces and cover the three methods of heat transfer, combustion, types of fuel used, and more. Under supervision, students will monitor and measure manifold pressure on a gas furnace, identify major components of an oil furnace, identify the components on different types of furnaces, and learn cleaning and filter replacement. SCIF Overview  
With the expansion created by BRAC at Aberdeen Proving Ground, this course is designed to introduce the basic concepts of the SCIF lifecycle for all levels of the construction workforce. The course will address the attributes of a SCIF, DCID and ICD regulations that govern SCIF construction, and the inspection process that leads to accreditation. This information will provide participants with a basis for making informed decisions when considering actively applying for SCIF construction projects.
