| Healthcare Provider CPR |
This course is designed for medical care providers and provides instruction for CPR (one- and two-rescuer) and relief of choking for the adult, child, and infant victim. Topics include the use of airway devices like the bag valve mask and various pocket masks. All participants must be able to kneel on the floor beside a manikin for extended periods of time. There is a 25-question test with a passing score of 84% required. The required text is the AHA Healthcare Provider Book and should be purchased and read prior to class. | Physical Therapy Technician Externship |
Participate in an individually-scheduled, forty-hour externship supervised by a physical therapist or a physical therapy assistant at a local facility. You'll get hands on experience working side by side with other members of the physical therapy team. This is an opportunity to apply the knowledge you gained in the course "Become a Physical Therapy Aide" and increase your value in a competitive job market. Topics include infection control; body mechanics; patient observation; and exercise principles for stretching, strengthening, aerobics, and range of motion. You must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or a GED to enroll. A current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR card; evidence of adequate immunization for rubella, chicken pox, and mumps; and negative TB skin test or negative chest x-ray reading are required before admission. Technical standards apply. Prerequisites: Foundations of Healthcare, HIPAA Compliance, Healthcare Externship Preparation, Healthcare Professionalism, Healthcare Provider CPR, Introduction to Business Computing, and Become a Physical Therapy Aide.
