Starting Salary Range:  $42,825 - $51,255

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The faculty member is primarily responsible for teaching a range of lecture and lab courses including preparatory chemistry, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and a survey course for non-majors. 

In addition, faculty members are expected to stay current in their disciplines and in teaching methodologies; implement changes in instruction based on assessment results; work with outside agencies, such as government, education, or business in order to promote STEM and the College; maintain reasonably distributed office hours; develop and revise curriculum, participate in a variety of college committees and task forces, and advise students as appropriate.  Faculty members are also expected to demonstrate leadership in teaching, discipline activities, and college service, and participate in community service. 

This is a 10-month, tenure-track position scheduled to begin August 2013; the position will be filled contingent upon funding.
 

 REQUIREMENTS:

 

 

A master's degree in chemistry or a related field and minimum of one year or equivalent college-level teaching experience in chemistry or related courses are required.  Applicants must have experience in curriculum development or a demonstrated understanding of the curriculum development process; have the ability to use innovative methodologies, techniques, technology and other delivery methods to continually improve student learning; and be able to interact with students and potential students outside the classroom environment in discipline-related activities.

Demonstrated ability to incorporate student learning outcome objectives within courses and to assess these outcomes; demonstrated ability to teach a range of chemistry courses; and effective communication skills are also required. 

Candidates will be asked to validate teaching experience.
