Advising, Career, and Transfer Services

Starting Salary Range:  $40,216 - $46,248

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Student Development Specialist provides guidance and assistance to students in the areas of career, academic advising, and transfer planning.  Duties include, but are not limited to, advising students; assisting students who need further career direction; serving as campus liaison for career-related projects; developing and maintaining online advising, career, and transfer services for students; teaching human development courses; event coordination; and performing other duties as assigned.

This is an exempt professional staff position.  Work schedule includes weekday, evening, and occasional weekend hours. 

REQUIREMENTS:

A master's degree in counseling, human development, or a related field and three years of related experience are required.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the areas of career counseling and academic advising, college teaching experience, and a working knowledge of advising and career technology, distance learning, and online services.  The ideal candidate will have excellent oral communication and writing skills; demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment and independently; be skilled in group presentations; and have experience working with students of diverse backgrounds.  Proficiency in a Windows-based PC environment is required.
