Heather’s Story . . .
On January 3, 2008, former HCC
student Heather Hurd was traveling to meet her wedding planner at Disney
World in Florida when she was killed by a distracted tractor trailer driver
who was text messaging. Tragically, 40,000 of our families and friends are
killed every year on our nation’s highways. Over 500 people lose their lives
each year in Maryland alone. It is our greatest hope that the Heather Hurd
5K Walk/Run will not only honor those lost on our highways, but also help
reduce these needless fatalities by increasing public awareness with the
creation of Remembrance Book Scholarships at Harford Community College.
Please join us in helping save lives by participating in the Annual
Heather Hurd 5K Run/1 Mile Fun Walk.
“Let’s all put our hearts together
and make a wish come true.”
