LM Scholarship Program

Notes: Calgary is the biggest city in the Province of Alberta, Canada. It is located in the south of the province, around 80 km east of the front ranges of the Canadian Rockies. Before Calgary was established, the region was occupied by the Pre-Clovis people 11,000 years ago. Originally named Fort Brisebois, it was renamed Fort Calgary by Colonel James Macleod in 1876 afte the word, "Calgary," which is on the Isle of Mull. The arrival of Canadian Pacific Railway in 1883 together with the construction of a rail station prompted it to develop into an influential agricultural and commercial centre. In 1884, Calgary was incorporated as a town and elected its first mayor, George Murdoch.

Selection Criteria
Enrollment Status: Full Time or Part Time
GPA: A student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and submit an answer to the essay question prior to the submission deadline.
Residence: A student must be a US resident or a Canadian resident and must also attend a school in Canada or the US.
Program: Currently enrolled or expects to be enrolled in a degree program (2 years of length or greater) by September.

McDaniel College PTK Transfer Scholarships

Award Amount
Up to $18,000 Awards
Notes: Available to community college transfer students who are Phi Theta Kappa members

Selection Criteria
Enrollment Status: Full Time or Part Time
GPA: 2.8 GPA or higher
HCC Credits Earned: At least 15 college credits transferring into McDaniel
Other: Must submit a FAFSA

Rogers Community Volunteer Scholarship

Notes: The main goal of the Rogers Community Volunteer Scholarship is to inspire young people to make contributions to their individual communities, while providing awards to those who are currently making a positive difference in their own neighborhoods, towns and cities.

Selection Criteria
Enrollment Status: Full Time or Part Time
GPA: A student must also possess a GPA of 2.5 or higher in his/her last academic year.
HS Grad Date: To be eligible a student must be attending school full-time in the fall and can be enrolled in any level of their undergraduate degree program. High School seniors who will graduate this year are considered eligible. *Trades and Technical students must be attending a program that is at least 4 years in length.
Residence: A student must be a resident of Canada or the United States and must attend a school in Canada or the United States.
Other: A student must have contributed at least 10 hours of volunteer (non-paid) service within his/her community over the last 12 months with one organization

Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship

Award Amount
Notes: Public Law 111-32, the Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship, amends the Post-9/11 GI Bill (chapter 33) to include the children of service members who die in the line of duty after Sept. 10, 2001. The benefit is effective August 1, 2009; the same day the Post-9/11 GI Bill takes effect. Eligible children attending school may receive up to the highest public, in-state undergraduate tuition and fees, plus a monthly living stipend and book allowance under this program.
