Message from the Dean

Welcome to Continuing Education...

Dear members of our Community,

I was recently interviewed for a commemorative book that will be published soon in celebration of Harford Community College’s 50th Anniversary. During the interview I was asked the question “how does continuing education impact this community?”  I had recently asked this very question at a staff retreat to the 26 energetic people who plan these courses, eager to find out what motivates them to produce such an array of interesting, challenging, fun and varied programs. It did not take long to discover their simple passion: The realization that we change people’s lives. Everything we offer impacts this community in some way.

What an insightful conclusion! Every offering on this website reveals the power of this statement.  We present programs that:

  • open doors of opportunity through our Adult Basic Education and GED programs;

  • teach new skills for entry into the workplace

  • upgrade current workforce skills for career advancement

  • share crafts and hobbies for fun and relaxation

  • expand historic and global awareness through cultural programs

  • strengthen the  development of our children and youth

  • forge partnerships with community groups to leverage county wide resource delivery

Surf these pages and discover a multitude of opportunities for a lifetime of learning. I invite you to join the nearly 16,000 other citizens who take advantage of these opportunities each year.  Who knows?  It just might change your life!

Sincerely,
Marlene Lieb
Associate Vice President for Continuing Education & Training
