Message from the Dean

Welcome to the Educational and Transitional Studies Division (ETS)

Faculty in the ETS division looks forward to assisting you in a variety of ways:

  • by offering transitional math, reading, and English courses
  • by offering courses to support degrees in teacher education
  • by preparing you for a career in the child care industry
  • by helping you improve your English, reading and math skills through transitional studies courses
  • by offering teacher certification courses for new or veteran educators
  • by helping you to change careers if you already have a bachelor’s degree

If you are interested in teaching as a career, explore our Association of Arts Degree in Secondary Education or our Associate of Arts in Teaching degrees in Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education; Elementary Education/Elementary Special Education; Secondary Education Chemistry; Secondary Education English; Secondary Education Mathematics; Secondary Education Physics; Secondary Education Spanish.   The A.A.T. degree guarantees seamless transfer to four-year teacher education programs in the state.  If you have any questions, or need additional information, please email us at Teachered@Harford.edu

If you desire to teach in or manage a day care facility, then consider our A.A.S. degree in early childhood education.

If you want to improve your basic skills in English, math, or reading, then you can enroll in a variety of transitional courses taught by caring, knowledgeable, and helpful faculty who want to help you to succeed and to earn a degree.

If you have earned a Bachelor’s degree and want to become a teacher as a career changer, the division offers courses approved and recognized by the Maryland State Department of Education.

If you are a teacher and want recertification, we can assist you too with MSDE approved courses.

If you want additional information or help, don’t hesitate to contact me, Carl Henderson, at CHenderson@harford.edu; call me at 443-412-2300 or drop by my office in Fallston Hall, room F163.
