Adam Thompson 5K Run/Walk

Over $30,000 raised for student scholarships at the 5th Annual Adam Thompson 5K Run/Walk!

Now in its 5
th year, the Adam Thompson 5K Run/Walk held on Sunday, April 24th was a great success!

Over 400 people turned out to run or walk the Harford Community College campus on a sunny spring morning.

Over $30,000 was raised for the Adam Thompson Memorial Nursing Scholarship at Harford Community College and the Adam Thompson Memorial Education Scholarship at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health. Both scholarships support students attending Harford Community College. More than $120,000 has been raised by the event over it's first five years.

The overall male winner of the 5K was Geoffrey Rinehart, who completed the race in 19:58. Elizabeth Roark was the top female runner, finishing in 23:36.

Runners included County Executive Barry Glassman and County Director of Administration, Billy Boniface.
A performance by the Chesapeake Bayhawks’ cheerleaders, and appearances from the Oriole bird and HCC's very own Screech kept people entertained. Participants were also able to take a close up look at several emergency vehicles including a PHI Air Medical helicopter.

The event honors the memory of Adam Thompson, a first-year HCC student who was killed in an automobile accident in 2011.
