Physical Therapy

As a physical therapy technician, you will work under the supervision of physical therapists and physical therapy assistants as a part of the rehabilitation team.

According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, the 2018 median salary for a Physical Therapy Technician was $27,540. Employment is expected to grow 30% from 2016-2026, faster than the national average.


  • Must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED
  • Reading (NGR) and Math (NGA) Assessments, available at the Test Center; college-level courses or SAT/ACT scores (500+) may be used in place of NGR and NGA
  • Health Assessment, including immunization record (due prior to externship placement)

First Set of Courses (completed in any order):

  • Bloodborne Pathogens (online course offered by the American Heart Association)
  • Computer Basics for Allied Health
  • HIPAA Compliance (online course)
  • Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification through the American Heart Association; prior to externship

Career Courses:

  • Become a Physical Therapy Aide (online course)
  • Physical Therapy Technician Externship
    (The Clinical Coordinator arranges start date and placement with each student. Evening and weekend hours not available. Students have six months from the completion of Become a Physical Therapy Aide to participate in an externship.)

Approximate cost of the program is $1,135, not including textbooks.
