Medical Insurance Billing

This entry level course prepares students to sit for National Certification as a Certified Billing & Coding Specialist (CBCS) through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).


 Medical insurance billers are responsible for submitting medical claims to insurance companies and are critical for the financial well-being of a healthcare practice . According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, the 2018 median salary for

Medical Billers in Maryland was $39,690.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have successfully completed the Medical Administrative Assistant Program or been working in a medical office setting continuously for at least six months
  • Reading (NGA) and Math (NGR) Assessments; available at the Test Center
