Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

CNAs are in high demand - many of our students have jobs before they graduate!

Learn to provide patients hands-on care under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON), this program enables graduates to apply for certification as a CNA with the MBON and to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) examination to be certified as a GNA.


According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, the 2018 median salary for Certified Nursing Assistants in Maryland was $31,310 per year. Employment is expected to grow 11% from 2016-2026, faster than the national average.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16* years of age and have a high school diploma or GED
  • Reading (NGR) and Math (NGA) Assessments, available at the Test Center; college-level courses or SAT/ACT scores (500+) may be used in place of the NGR and NGA
  • Health Assessment, including immunization record; prior to clinical
  • Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR certification through the American Heart Association; prior to clinical

*Must be enrolled in high school if 16.

  • Nursing Assistant Theory
  • Nursing Assistant Clinical
