OER (Open Educational Resources) are powerful. Imagine what student success rates would look like if every student had all the course materials on the first day of class. What if some, or all, of the course materials were free for students? How would that impact teaching and learning, student retention and completion?
While many of the earlier OERs lacked quality standards and were difficult to use, the newest generation of OERs are written and reviewed by faculty, have higher presentation standards, and come in a variety of flexible delivery options that are easy to integrate into an existing course. Faculty can choose to integrate OERs at their own pace and a much wider variety of subject areas are now represented.
Join Dr. Karen Rege, Director for eLearning and Instructional Resources, and other faculty and staff at a Lunch and Learn discussion on the power of open educational resources as alternatives to the commercially published textbooks and other materials. It will include supporting data, FAQs and open discussion. All faculty and staff are welcome. Feel free to bring your lunch.
Tues. April 5th 12:30 – 1:30 pm in Library room 303
