Employment of culinary technicians is projected to grow 8% form 2016-26, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Advances in technology and knowledge related to food production are increasing demand for these workers.

The average hourly wage for culinary technicians in Maryland was $10.34-$15.40.

The Culinary Technician Certificate at HCC

Through this program, you will learn:

  • How to use commercial kitchen equipment including floor mixers, stand mixers, slicers, etc.
  • Learn knife skills such as dice, chop, batonnet, chiffonade, brunoise, julienne, and learn how to handle and properly maintain culinary knives.
  • Learn professional kitchen etiquette
  • Work with spices and seasonings
  • Learn food preparation and handling
  • Prepare recipes to cook delicious appetizers, entrées and desserts.
  • Learn baking and decorating techniques.
  • Demonstrate presentation and plating techniques.
  • Learn safe food handling and prepare for ServSafe certification
